Generally, a post-event massage is scheduled at the end of an event when the athlete has finished the event or competition. At Olympic Sports Therapy we have the knowledge and skill to properly treat post event athletes.
A post-event massage is administered to help the athlete in recovering from strenuous activity, re-establish range of motion, reduce exercise soreness, and increase blood flow to tight muscles. Our experienced therapists allow the athlete to cool down and make sure they are re hydrated.
A post-event massage is performed for about 10-15 minutes. It can be also a full body massage, but typically working the legs and muscles of stress from the event. This may consist of techniques to calm the nervous system, push fluid, easing tension in the muscle, spreading muscle fibers, restoring blood flow, loosening tight muscles, and a finishing stroke to soothe the muscles.
Your therapist will then will perform some therapeutic stretching to relieve muscle tension and restore range of motion.
An athlete receiving a post-event massage will feel better right after a competition, along with a psychological boost the athlete recovers quickly.
